The Westpolder is a so-called "wadden" polder, named after the wetlands on the coast of the Waddensea.
This polder was created in 1875 by a small group of landowners.
The farm Nieuw-Midhuizen dates form the same year. "Nieuw-Midhuizen" is situated in the open polder landscape of Groningen province and is surrounded by windbreaks with beautiful old trees;
it is an arable farm with sugar beets, seed potatoes, wheat and onions.
